I’ll be leaving INRIA mid-may

After more than one month of silence (actually, can we say a blog is silent ?), I feel like I have to post this important notice here…

I’ve passed my last 5 years leading the developments of OpenViBE and it has been a really great experience. However, I recently decided to leave INRIA. This choice has been motivated by my wish of developing some service related to OpenViBE, Brain Computer Interfaces and real time neurosciences in general. OpenViBE is a great software but there are still thousand of feature requests and possible enhancements to make it more suitable to different fields of applications. For this reason, starting from may this year, I’ll be on my own, independent consultant / software developer for everything related to Brain Computer Interfaces and/or OpenViBE.

Does it change anything as regarding to my commitment to the software one may ask ? I answer no. Actually, I believe that feature developments can be sponsored by whoever need them. Sometimes the sponsors will be interested in having the feature immediately available opensource. That was the case for Brain Products requiring me a BrainAmp driver for instance. And as I said in the last Brain Products newsletter, this actually makes the Brain Products amplifiers those best supported in OpenViBE so far. Sometimes it is possible that some sponsors want to have a feature 3 or 6 months before it is available opensource… And finally for some specific needs, it is also possible to develop some plugins closed source if they only rely on LGPL parts of OpenViBE.

All in all, that does not change much to my commitment to the software…

This is one step further in trying to make those technologies accessible to everyone. If you are interested in working with me, please feel free to contact me.

      Thank you cb :)
We indeed did not have much time to talk last week. I heard that some VR-geeks meetings will take place in Laval soon ? Would be nice if I could join
